FALLEN

DONALD SUTHERLAND (Lieutenant Stanton), one of the most prolific and skillful motion picture actors, has appeared in more than 90 films and has happily worked for some of the world's greatest filmmakers, including Federico Fellini, Bernardo Bertolucci, Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Redford, Fred Schepisi, Alan Pakula, Nicolas Roeg, Louis Malle, John Schlesinger, Hugh Hudson, Philip Kaufman, Paul Mazursky, Ron Howard, Oliver Stone and Barry Levinson.

Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Sutherland began his multi-media career as a local disc jockey. His first real taste of theater came via roles in University of Toronto productions, including "The Tempest"; his lauded performances prompted Sutherland to switch his major from engineering to acting. From there, he studied at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and appeared in numerous roles on the British stage and in television. Spotted by producer Paul Maslansky in a West End production of "Spoon River Anthology," the actor was signed for his first film roles (he played both a soldier and a witch) in "The Castle of the Living Dead." A succession of feature roles followed, including the part of Captain Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce, M.D., in Robert Altman's seminal "M*A*S*H," which brought Sutherland international fame.

His roles in such films as "The Dirty Dozen," "Don't Look Now," "Day of the Locust," "Klute," "1900," "The Eagle Has Landed," "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," "Ordinary People," "Eye of the Needle," "Casanova," "Backdraft," "JFK," "Six Degrees of Separation," "Outbreak," "A Time to Kill" and the telefilms "The Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All" and HBO's "Citizen X" have brought him worldwide acclaim and a slate of nominations and awards (one Emmy nomination, two Golden Globe Awards, an additional Golden Globe nomination and one Canadian Genie Award).

Upcoming projects include "Without Limits," in which he portrays legendary track coach of Steve Prefontaine, William Bowerman.
