MIKAEL SALOMON made his directorial debut with Amblin Entertainment's "A Far Off Place." He is a two-time Academy Award® nominee -- for Visual Effects in "Backdraft" and Cinematography for "The Abyss," for which he was also nominated for the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Award. In 1988 he won the CableAce Award in Cinematography for "The Man Who Broke 1,000 Chains." He was also the director of photography on such films as "Far and Away," "Always," "Arachnophobia" and "Torch Song Trilogy."

Mutual Film Company was formed in 1996 by partners Mark Gordon and Gary Levinsohn to produce and finance motion pictures. The company is based at Paramount Pictures. Their releases include the upcoming films "Primary Colors," "Paulie: A Parrot's Tale," "Virus," "Black Dog," "Saving Private Ryan," "A Simple Plan" "Age of Aquarius" and the recently released "The Jackal." The company also co-financed last year's "The Relic" for Paramount Pictures.
