PALMETTO

"I finally get to play the healthiest person in a movie," laughs GINA GERSHON about her character of Harry's girlfriend, Nina. "In the two years that Harry was in prison and Nina was on her own, I think she found herself through her sculpture and has blossomed as a person."

Palmetto marks the second time that Gina Gershon and Elisabeth Shue have appeared in the same film, but the first time they share the screen together. Gershon had a featured role opposite Tom Cruise in 1988's Cocktail, in which Shue costarred.

Gershon most recently costarred with Nicolas Cage and John Travolta in the action hit, Face/Off, opposite Billy Zane in This World, Then the Fireworks and in the critically acclaimed film noir Bound with Jennifer Tilly. Her upcoming productions include the independent films One Tough Cop with Stephen Baldwin, a starring role in Prague Duet opposite Rade Serbedzja and LuLu on the Bridge the directing debut of Smoke scribe, Paul Auster, which costars Mira Sorvino, Harvey Keitel, Jared Harris, Vanessa Redgrave, Stockard Channing and Chris Penn.

Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Gershon moved to New York, where she obtained her bachelor of arts degree at NYU. She studied acting at Circle in the Square, American Conservatory Theatre and with David Mamet. Her prolific stage work includes roles in Camille, The Substance of Fire, Nanawatai and numerous productions with the New Yorkbased theatre group, Naked Angels, of which she is a founding member.

Gershon made her motion picture debut in Pretty in Pink, which she followed with Cocktail and Red Heat opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other film credits for Gershon include City of Hope, The Player, Joey Breaker, Out For Justice, Touch and Showgirls.

On television, Gershon was lauded for her portrayal of Nancy Barbato Sinatra in the CBS miniseries Sinatra. She has appeared in a recurring role on the series Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, as well as roles in Love Matters for Showtime, and the Emmywinning Hallmark Hall of Fame production Miss Rose While.
