JOHNATHON SCHAECH (Jackson Baring) is emerging as one of
the hottest young talents in Hollywood. He will next be seen in
MGM's Welcome to Woop Woop and in Graceland opposite
Harvey Keitel, both due later this year.
Born and raised in Edgewood, Maryland, Schaech entered the University
of Maryland to study economics, but abruptly changed career paths,
leaving his intended life as a lawyer behind and moving to Los
Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Schaech studied the craft
with Roy London for four years.
Schaech has come a long way since his first film role, a small
part in The Webber's 15 Minutes. Shaech leapt to leading
man status in Franco Zeffirelli's The Sparrow, which was
shot in Sicily and released internationally. After starring in
Gregg Araki's The Doom Generation, he landed the plum role
of Winona Ryder's love interest in How To Make An American
Quilt. Most recently, audiences saw Schaech as Jimmy, the
serious-minded lead singer and songwriter for the fictional one-hit-wonder
band the Wonders, in That Thing You Do!, written and directed
by Tom Hanks.
Schaech recently completed a starring role opposite Guy Pearce
and Emily Lloyd in Roberta Handley's Woundings and is currently
in production on Gregg Araki's Splendor.
