HEATH LEDGER (Patrick Verona) was first noticed by American audiences starring as Conor in the action-adventure television series "Roar." The show was shot entirely in his native Australia and the success of the project brought Ledger to the attention of other film-makers.

Immediately prior to beginning his work filming "10 Things I Hate About You" in Seattle, Ledger flew in from Australia where he just wrapped production on director Gregor Jordan's film "Two Hands," co-starring Bryan Brown which was screened at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

He previously starred in Steven Vidler's "Black Rock," which was nominated for the Australian Best Picture prize and shown at the Sundance Film Festival. He has also appeared in two Australian television series: "Ship To Shore" and "Sweat," in which he played a young cyclist.

Ledger's theatre training is extensive. He was a state finalist in 1993 as a member of the Globe Shakespeare Company as well as a First Prize winner for the North of Perth Music Company for "Open Monologue." His theatre roles have included "Peter Pan," "The Name of the Father," and "Bugsy Malone."

Ledger was born in Perth, Australia.
