IDLE HANDS

RODMAN FLENDER (Director) is an accomplished actor, writer, producer and director who cut his teeth on the horror genre under Roger Corman. Striking a balance between horror and comedy is nothing new to Flender, whose days as a Harvard undergrad were spent making atypical student films such as "Bloody Mutilators," an animated film featuring rats eating supermodels which Interview lauded as "savagely satiric." Flender sent the film to iconoclast Corman, who made the young Harvard grad vice president of worldwide marketing and distribution, and eventually vp of production.

Within two years Flender produced a remarkable 23 movies and began to offer his services as a writer, editor and short-order director. His feature directing debut came with the sci-fi thriller "The Unborn." After writing and directing another Corman project, "In the Heat of Passion," Flender was recruited by Trimark pictures to helm the horror-fantasy "Leprechaun 2."

Flender eventually bridged into television, where he has developed a reputation as a director of substance, bringing his talents to such series as "Tales From the Crypt," "Chicago Hope," "Party of Five," "Dawson's Creek" and "Arli$$."

Flender's upcoming projects include a documentary about a local Boston rock group.
