A WALK ON THE MOON
is Walker Jerome, the traveling hippie salesman who wanders into
the life and heart of a lonely young housewife. Mortensen's captivating
performances are continuously recognized by critics, including
his debut role as Alexander Gudonov's brother in "Witness,"
as a weapons officer caught between Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington
in "Crimson Tide," his role in Sean Penn's "The
Indian Runnder" and his recent role opposite Michael Douglas
and Gwyneth Paltrow in "A Perfect Murder."
Mortensen's other recent roles have run the gamut from the thriller
"Daylight" with Sylvester Stallone to Jane Campion's
"The Portrait of a Lady" opposite Nicole Kidman; from
Kevin Spacey's directorial debut "Albino Alligator"
to the hit "GI Jane" starring with Demi Moore to Gus
Van Sant's daring remake of Hitchcock's "Psycho." Other
film credits include "Carlito's Way," "Young Americans,"
"The Prophecy," "Boiling Point" and "Fresh
Horses." Possessed with a skill for mastering foreign languages,
he also starred opposite Angela Moline in the Spanish film "Gimlet"
as well as "My Brother's Gun" directed by Ray Loriga.
Mortensen began his career in theater, working in New York and
Los Angeles, where his performance in "Bent" at the
Coast Playhouse earned him a Dramalogue Award. He is also an accomplished
writer: a book of his poetry, Ten Last Night was published by
