ENTRAPMENT

Welsh born actress CATHERINE ZETA-JONES (Gin) recently received the 1999 ShoWest award for best supporting actress of the year. She starred in the blockbuster The Mask of Zorro, opposite Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins, and directed by Martin Campbell. She was offered the role of Elena, Zorro's daughter, after executive producer Steven Spielberg saw her performance in the television mini-series Titanic.

Zeta-Jones began her career on the London stage where she was in the chorus as well as an understudy in the musical 42nd Street. Asked to take over the lead one night, she quickly moved into a starring role, which she played for the next two years. She then found success on U.K. television for her role as Marietta in the high-rated The Darling Buds of May, adapted from the novels of H.E. Bates.

Before leaving England for Hollywood, she starred in the feature film Blue Juice, with Ewan McGregor, and the popular television adaptation of Thomas Hardy's The Return of the Native.

In addition to starring in the Titanic mini-series, Zeta-Jones took the title role in the Golden Globe-winning mini-series Catherine the Great, and co-starred in the big budget adventure film The Phantom.

Zeta-Jones will next star with Liam Neeson in the thriller The Haunting, directed by Jan De Bont.
