Nine-year-old HATTY JONES, a cherub-faced redhead with
wise brown eyes, was found in London for the title role. Jones
was very familiar with the literary heroine since her parents
read the books to her, and heard of the auditions through her
teacher at an after-school drama club she attends.
With typical British politeness and modesty, Jones thought the
best she could do was to land a background role, but was "over
the moon" to be offered the lead after her fourth audition.
Hatty Jones was born and raised in London, where she lives with
her parents and her two younger brothers. She goes to St. James
Church of England Primary School in Muswell Hill, London, where
she played Tweedledum in a school production of "Alice In
Wonderland." She attends the Arts Academy drama club after
school, which is where she first heard of the auditions for MADELINE,
for which her drama teacher suggested she try out. She also studies
ballet, sings in her church choir and is in the Brownies.
