JADA PINKETT SMITH portrays the driven M.J. Major, a journalist determined to break the story of Lewis' Malaysian imprisonment and impending death sentence at all costs.

A versatile and gifted actress, she gained international attention in the 1996 blockbuster The Nutty Professor opposite Eddie Murphy. That year she also appeared in F. Gary Gray's gritty urban action film Set It Off with co-stars Queen Latifah and Vivica Fox.

She made her film debut in Allen and Albert Hughes' 1993 critically acclaimed Menace To Society. In 1994 she starred in three films: The Inkwell opposite Larenz Tate; the critical favorite Jason's Lyric opposite Allen Payne; and, Keenan Ivory Wayans' A Low Down Dirty Shame, which brought her rave reviews for her comedic performance.

From dramas to comedies to horror films, she has amassed a resume of numerous hits and soon-to-be cult classics. She recently starred in Woo and the horror sequel Scream 2.

A native of Maryland, she studied acting and dance at the Baltimore School of Arts and the North Carolina School of Arts. Married to actor Will Smith, she runs her production company 100% Women.
