TEACHING MRS. TINGLE

HELEN MIRREN is Mrs. Tingle, a spiteful history teacher whose brilliance is put to the test in a suspenseful game of wits with three of her students.

Mirren has had an accomplished and decorated acting career. Perhaps best known in recent years for her Emmy Award winning role as Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison in the PBS series Prime Suspect, she has won numerous accolades through five seasons of the acclaimed series.

She was last seen on screen in Some Mother's Son, as the mother of an IRA hunger striker. Most recently, she won a Golden Globe Award for her performance opposite Kyra Sedgwick in the Showtime Original Movie Losing Chase, directed by Kevin Bacon. She then re-teamed with Sedgwick in the medical black comedy Critical Care with James Spader and Anne Bancroft.

Her many film credits include an Oscar-nominated role in The Madness of King George; Cal, for which she was awarded the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival; Mosquito Coast opposite Harrison Ford; The Long Good Friday opposite Bob Hoskins; as well as Excalibur, Comfort of Strangers, Pascali's Island and Peter Greenaway's controversial The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. Mirren is also heard in the DreamWorks animated feature Prince of Egypt.

As a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Mirren has portrayed most of the classic theatrical roles, including Ophelia, Cressida, Lady Macbeth, Nina in The Seagull and the title role in August Strindberg's Miss Julie. She starred most recently on the London stage opposite Alan Rickman in the National Theatre's production of Antony and Cleopatra.
