HAPPY, TEXAS

MARK ILLSLEY (Director/Producer/Co-Writer) began filmmaking with a Super-8 camera as a teenager in Santa Rosa, CA, and later attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinema and Television. In film school, Illsley started a close working relationship with fellow student Kevin Reynolds, serving as producer, first assistant director and stunt pilot on Reynolds' award-winning 30-minute thesis film, "Proof." After graduating from USC, Illsley joined Reynolds on "Fandango," a Warner Brothers feature based on "Proof," with Steven Spielberg as executive producer.

Illsley began his long-lasting role as Reynolds' second unit director with "The Beast" for Columbia Pictures, shooting in Israel's scorching Negev Desert near the Dead Sea. He then traveled to England and France to shoot second unit on Warner Brothers' "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves." In their third collaboration, Illsley found himself on the small and isolated Easter Island in the South Pacific, directing second unit for Warner Brother's "Rapa Nui." The physically grueling second unit shoot lasted over 100 days and included challenging set-ups such as underwater and helicopter shots as well as filming while hanging off 800-foot cliffs.
