THE BEST MAN

After accepting a year long fellowship in screenwriting from Disney and learning his craft at the prestigious NYU Film School, MALCOLM D. LEE (Director/Screenwriter) makes his feature film debut with The Best Man. Having worked closely with one of Hollywood most influential directors, Spike Lee, Malcolm has worked in the film industry since he was 17 as a production assistant, apprentice editor and assistant director.

At Disney, Lee developed two full-length feature screenplays, the first of which, Morningside Prep, was optioned by the studio and is currently in development at Spike Lee's 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks. Morningside Prep explores the experiences of black students at a predominantly white prep school. Lee's short film based on Morningside Prep won two Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame Awards and also aired on Showtime's Black Filmmakers Showcase, among others.

Lee served as Spike Lee's assistant on Clockers and Girl 6. The Best Man is Lee's sixth screenplay.
