DAVID PAYMER plays U.S. Secretary of State Forsyth, who
represents the interests of Queen Isabella of Spain on behalf
of President Van Buren. Paymer received both Academy Award®
and Golden Globe nominations as Best Supporting Actor for his
role as Billy Crystal's put-upon brother in "Mr. Saturday
Night." He has more recently had starring roles in several
films of note, including Harold Becker's "City Hall,"
Oliver Stone's acclaimed biopic "Nixon," Barry Sonnenfeld's
hit comedy "Get Shorty," Rob Reiner's romantic comedy
"The American President," and Robert Redford's real-life
drama "Quiz Show."
His additional film credits include "Searching for Bobby
Fischer," "City Slickers" and its sequel "City
Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold," "Heart and
Souls," "No Way Out," "Perfect," "Irreconcilable
Differences," "Best Defense" and "The In-Laws."
On the small screen, Paymer recently received a Golden Globe nomination
for his supporting role in the HBO original movie "Crime
of the Century," directed by Mark Rydell.
Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Paymer graduated from
the University of Michigan. He began his acting career on the
stage when he won the role of Sonny in the national tour of the
musical "Grease." He later reprised his role on Broadway.
