A SIMPLE PLAN

SAM RAIMI (Director) received international acclaim as director for his ultra-low budget horror film "The Evil Dead," an immediate hit at the Cannes Film Festival. Following up that success, Raimi wrote and directed "The Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn," a sequel that firmly established his mastery of the horror genre here in the U.S. From that beginning, Raimi has shown an impressive versatility, directing the outrageously comic fantasy "Army of Darkness," the sci-fi thriller "Darkman," starring Liam Neeson, and the western, "The Quick and the Dead," with Leonardo DiCaprio, Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman.

An accomplished writer of horror and fantasy, Raimi's other writing credits include the Coen Brothers' corporate satire "The Hudsucker Proxy," starring Paul Newman, Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason Leigh, "Army of Darkness" and the pilot for "M.A.N.T.I.S."

When he isn't directing or writing, Raimi is busy executive producing the blockbuster syndicated series "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys." He also executive produced the feature films "Hard Target" and "Timecop," starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.
