A CIVIL ACTION
KATHLEEN QUINLAN (Anne Anderson) made her film debut in
George Lucas' classic "American Graffiti," which led
to a starring role opposite Sam Elliot and Anne Archer in "Lifeguard."
She earned critical acclaim for her performance as a teenage schizophrenic
in "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden." After playing
Jim Morrison's seductive girlfriend in Oliver Stone's "The
Doors" and a contract killer in "Trial by Jury,"
Quinlan was cast in Ron Howard's "Apollo 13." Her heartfelt
performance as Marilyn Lovell garnered her both Academy Award
and Golden Globe nominations as Best Supporting Actress.
More recently, Quinlan starred opposite Kurt Russell in director
Jonathan Mostow's action-thriller "Breakdown," in the
sci-fi thriller "Event Horizon" with Laurence Fishburne
and Sam Neill, in the family comedy "Zeus and Roxanne"
opposite Steve Guttenberg, in Michael Lehmann's comedy "My
Giant," and in the independent drama "Lawn Dogs."
Her other film credits include "The Promise," "Clara's
Heart," "Sunset," "Twilight Zone -- The Movie,"
"The Last Winter," "Independence Day," "Sunday
Lovers," "Hanky Panky," "The Runner Stumbles,"
and "Airport '77."
Quinlan's stage experience includes "Les Liaisons Dangereuses"
at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, Joseph Papp Public Theater's
production of "Taken in Marriage," which earned her
a Theater World Award in 1978, as well as the Los Angeles Stage
Company's production of "Uncommon Women and Others."
Born in Pasadena, California, and raised in Mill Valley, California,
Kathleen Quinlan trained as a diver and a gymnast before beginning
her acting career. A surfing enthusiast, she resides in Malibu,
California, with her husband, actor Bruce Abbot, and son, Tyler.
