MELINDA DILLON (Rose Gator) has twice received Academy Award nominations as Best
Supporting Actress for her roles in Absence of Malice and Close Encounters of the
Third Kind. Her films include How To Make An American Quilt, Prince of Tides, Sioux
City, Staying Together, Harry and the Henderson's, Songwriter, A Christmas Story, The Shadow Box, F.I.S. T., Slap Shot
and Bound For Glory.
Dillon's television credits include the mini-series "The Judds," "James Michener's Space," "Hellinger's
Law"; the HBO Productions "State of Emergency," "Transplant" and "Right of Way"; and the movies-of-the-week "Fallen Angel" and "Shattered Spirits." She also had a guest starring appearance on "The Tracey
Ullman Show" and appeared in Paulist Productions "Insight."
On Broadway, Dillon appeared in the original production of Edward Albee's "Who's
Afraid of Virginia Woolf," garnering the New York Drama Critics Award and a Tony
nomination. Other Broadway credits include "Story Theatre" and "You Know I Can't
Hear You When the Water's Running." Her off-Broadway roles include "A Round With
Ring," directed by Ring Lardner, Jr., and "Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama's Hung You in the
Closet and I'm Feeling So Sad" directed by Jerome Robbins.
