THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY

GWYNETH PALTROW (Marge Sherwood) received glowing reviews for her performance in her most recent film, "Shakespeare in Love." For her performance she garnered the Oscar®, Golden Globe® Award (Comedy/Musical) for Best Actress and Screen Actors Guild Award.

Her recent film credits include "Sliding Doors," "Great Expectations" co-starring with Ethan Hawke and Robert De Niro, and "A Perfect Murder," in which she starred opposite Michael Douglas.

Paltrow received unanimous critical acclaim for her performance in the title role of "Emma." Her other film appearances include starring roles in Paul Thomas Anderson's "Hard Eight," "The Pallbearer," "Seven," "Moonlight and Valentino," "Jefferson in Paris," "Malice" and "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle."

Paltrow first attracted attention in "Flesh and Bone" in which she appeared with Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan and James Caan.

Raised in Los Angeles and New York City, Paltrow is the daughter of the award-winning actress Blythe Danner and producer-director Bruce Paltrow ("St. Elsewhere," "The White Shadow").After attending St. Augustine by the Sea (now called Crossroads) in Los Angeles and the Spence School in New York City, Paltrow enrolled in the University of California at Santa Barbara with the intention of majoring in art history. She withdrew from school against her father's wishes; it wasn't until he saw her performance in the Williamstown Theatre production of William Inge's "Picnic" opposite her mother and Tony Goldwyn that he lent his support to her pursuit of an acting career.

This past summer, Paltrow received rave reviews for her stage performance in the role of Rosalind in Shakespeare's "As You Like It" at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Paltrow made her film debut in "Shout" with John Travolta, and among her early credits are the role of young Wendy in Steven Spielberg's "Hook" and the TV mini-series "Cruel Doubt" in which Blythe Danner was cast in the role of her mother. She will next be seen in "Duets," directed by Bruce Paltrow and "Bounce" opposite Ben Affleck.

She lives in New York City.
