THE BEACH

Director DANNY BOYLE, producer ANDREW MACDONALD and screenwriter JOHN HODGE have worked together continuously since their first feature film. Through Macdonald's company, Figment, they made a startling debut in 1994 with the critically acclaimed, box-office hit "Shallow Grave" starring Christopher Eccleston, Kerry Fox and Ewan McGregor. The team's second film, "Trainspotting," is considered by many to be a milestone in recent British cinema and has become one of the highest-grossing British films of all time.

In 1996 they went to the U.S. to make "A Life Less Ordinary" starring Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz. That same year, Macdonald and Boyle acted as co-executive producers of "Twin Town" directed by Kevin Allen. Their next project was "Alien Love Triangle" written by Hodge, a short feature for Miramax starring Kenneth Branagh, Courtney Cox and Heather Graham. "The Beach" is the trio's fifth collaboration.
