BARRY PEPPER has in a
few short years become one of the most sought after young actors in Hollywood.
His most recent films include The Green Mile, with Tom Hanks; Enemy of
the State, opposite Will Smith and Gene Hackman; and Battlefield Earth,
starring John Travolta. He made a career breakthrough several years earlier with
his unforgettable performance as the devout Private Jackson in Steven
Spielberg's Academy Award-winning Saving Private Ryan.
Raised since the age of
five by his family on a 50-foot sailboat christened the "Moonlight,"
Pepper spent his childhood traveling through the South Pacific Islands, educated
primarily by his parents through correspondence courses. When the family
returned to their native Canada, Pepper spent two years in college before
discovering his passion for acting through his involvement in the Vancouver
Actor's Studio. Soon after he began securing roles in such TV movies and pilots
as "A Killer Among Friends," with Patty Duke; "Johnny's
Girl," with Treat Williams; and the miniseries "Titanic" with
George C. Scott. In Canada he is best known for his work on the award-winning
Pepper's other film
credits include 20th Century-Fox's Firestorm and Urban Safari, a
1995 independent film that debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.
