X-MEN is Australian actor HUGH JACKMAN's first major U.S. screen role. In the film, he portrays Logan/Wolverine, a solitary fighting machine who possesses amazing healing powers, retractable adamantium claws and an animal-like fury.
Jackman was last seen on stage as Curly in Trevor Nunn's revival of Oklahoma! at London's West End, for which he received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. The production was also filmed, and received an International Emmy Award in the
Performing Arts category.
Jackman will begin shooting Animal Husbandry this summer alongside Ashley Judd for director Tony
Goldwyn, to be released by Twentieth Century Fox.
His other credits include lead roles in several Australian independent feature films, including Paperback Hero and Erskineville Kings, for which he was nominated for Best Actor by the Australian Film Industry. Jackman has appeared in the Australian television series Corelli and Halifax
Jackman was named "Australian Star of the Year" for 1999 at the Australian Movie Connection
(AMC), which is equivalent to America's ShoWest exhibitor convention. He received the MO Award (Australia's Tony Award) for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in Sunset Boulevard and an MO Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast.
