JEAN SMART (Dierdre) is an accomplished actress in television, film and theater. Most recently, she starred with Stephen Rea and Sarah Polley in "Guinevere," for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Female, and in Nickelodeon Films' box-office success "Snow Day." She will next be seen starring on stage with Nathan Lane in the Broadway revival of "The Man who Came to Dinner," directed by Jerry Zaks.

Her additional film credits include Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple II," "The Brady Bunch," "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey," and Miramax's "Mistress."

In addition to her work in feature film, Smart also has an impressive list of television credits. Perhaps best known for her role in the popular sitcom, "Designing Women," Smart went on to land leading roles on two more series, "High Society" and "Style & Substance." Additionally, she has starred in several telefilms including "A Change of Heart," "A Stranger In Town," "The Yearling," and won rave reviews for her portrayal of Aileen Wournos in CBS's "Overkill."

Smart, began her professional career on stage, starting off in the regional theater circuit and then moving to New York where she appeared on and off-Broadway. She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, and awared the Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for her off-Broadway role in "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove" and appeared on Broadway in "Piaf." In Los Angeles, she co-starred with Mary Steenburgen in "Marvin's Room" and in Nicky Silver's off-Broadway play, "Fit to be Tied."
