JEFF BRIDGES (President Jackson Evans), a three-time
Academy Award' nominee, earned his first Oscar" nod for Best Supporting
Actor for his work in Peter Bogdanovich's "The Last Picture Show." His
second nomination, in the same category, came for Michael Cimino's
"Thunderbolt and Lightfoot." His portrayal of an earthbound alien in
"Starman" brought him an Academy Award" nomination for Best
Actor, as well as a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. He received another
Golden Globe nomination for "The Fisher King," and won an Independent
Spirit Award for Best Actor for his role in "American Heart," which
also marked his producing debut.
Bridges' extensive credits include a broad range of roles in
such films as "The Fabulous Baker Boys," with Michelle Pfeiffer and
Beau Bridges; the thriller "Jagged Edge," opposite Glenn Close;
Francis Ford Coppola's "Tucker: The Man and His Dream"; Peter Weir's
"Fearless"; "Blown Away," opposite Tommy Lee Jones; Ridley
Scott's "White Squall"; John Huston's "Fat City": and Barbra
Streisand's "The Mirror Has Two Faces."
He more recently starred in the screen version of Sam
Shepard's play "Simpatico," the Coen Brothers' comedy "The Big
Lebowski," the thriller "Arlington Road," and the Albert Brooks
comedy "The Muse." His film work also includes "Wild Bill,"
"The Vanishing," "Texasville," "See You in the
Morning," "Nadine," "The Morning After," "8
Million Ways to Die," "Against All Odds," "Tron,"
"Stay Hungry" and "Hearts of the West."
In addition to his acting, Bridges is also an accomplished
musician, singer and composer, who recently released his first album, Be Here
Soon, on Ramp Records (a label he co-founded with Michael McDonald and Chris
Pelonis). He is also a painter and photographer, whose works have been exhibited
in galleries in several major cities.
