PROOF OF LIFE
PAMELA REED (Janis Bowman) has created a myriad of characters from drama to comedy. First discovered by audiences in Walter Hill's "The Long Riders" where she played the
infamous outlaw, 'Belle Starr,' she has gone on to co-star in such movies as "Melvin & Howard," Garry Marshall's directorial debut "Young Doctors In Love," "The Right Stuff," "The Best Of Times" and "Clan Of The Cave Bear." Other more recent feature credits include "Cadillac Man," "Kindergarten Cop," "Passed Away," "Junior," "Santa Fe" and "Bean." She most recently completed filming on the independent feature,
"Standing On Fishes."
Her television work includes her award-winning portrayal in the HBO series, "Tanner '88," where she was honored with a CableAce Award as Best Actress. She also starred in such teleflims as "Deadly Whispers," 'Born Too Soon," "Caroline," "A Woman With A Past," "Heart Of Steel," "I Want To Live," "Inmates," "The Man Next Door" and the mini-series, "Hemingway." In addition, she played the pivotal role in Showtime's "Critical Choices."
Born in Tacoma, Washington, Reed received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. She moved to New York City where she earned a Drama Desk Award for her performance in the off-Broadway production of "Getting Out" as well as an Obie for Sustained Excellence in Performance in Theater.' On Broadway, Reed appeared in Tools," "The
November People" and "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas."
