JIM CAVIEZEL (Catch) has rapidly become one of the busiest actors in
Hollywood since his breakthrough performance in "The Thin Red Line" for director
Terrence Malick. Following that success, he starred in director Ang Lee's "Ride With the
Devil," the Civil War epic in which he played the leader of a troop that included Toby
Maguire and Skeet Ulrich; the highly praised sci-fi drama "Frequency," directed by
Gregory Hoblit and also starring Dennis Quaid; and the independent film "Madison."
Last year he starred with Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment in Mimi Leder's inspiring drama
"Pay it Forward."
Growing up in rural Mount Vernon, Washington, basketball was more on his mind than acting but an audition in Seattle won him the role of an Italian ticket agent in Gus Van Sant's 'My Own Private Idaho," which he followed with roles in
"Diggstown," "Wyatt Earp," and "G.I. Jane."
Caviezel will next be seen staring in the title role of "The Count of Monte Cristo" and in the thriller "High Crimes."
