SEXY BEAST

Long recognized as one of Britain's most powerful actors in film and television, RAY WINSTONE gained international acclaim as the lead in Gary Oldman's intense directorial debut Nil by Mouth, for which he was BAFTA nominated as Best Actor, and won Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards.

His recent role in Tim Roth's directorial debut The War Zone, hailed by critics at both the Berlin and Cannes Film Festivals, has consolidated his international reputation and gave him a Best Actor nomination at the European Film Awards, held in Berlin.

Since his film debut in Alan Clarke's Scum, Winstone has been directed by a host of leading British directors including Ken Loach (Ladybird Ladybird), Antonia Bird (Face), and Les Blair.

Recent television includes lead roles in the BBC multi award winning drama series Births, Marriages and Deaths, starring with Philip Davies and Mark Strong as three friends whose lives and friendships are torn apart by one moment of madness on a stag night. The single drama Our Boy, co-starring with Pauline Quirke, as a couple coming to grips with the death of their child, which won him Best Actor at the Royal Television Society Awards.

Recently Ray Winstone has taken starring roles in Anjelica Houston's Agnes Brown, the romantic comedy Fanny and Elvis, written and directed by Kay Mellor, Jonathan Coe's adaptation of Five Seconds To Spare, directed by Tom Connolly, and Pathe Production's "The One and Only Jimmy Grimble," directed by John Haye.

Winstone is preparing to return to the London stage in a new play entitled "To The Green Fields Beyond" by Nick Whitby at the Donmar Warehouse, directed by the Academy Award winning Sam Mendes.
