TOM BERENGER (Stan) was nominated for a 1987 Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor for his role as the
sociopathic, battle-scarred Sergeant Barnes in Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning Platoon. He also won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for the film. He will next star with Sylvester Stallone in the police thriller Eye See You.
His first film assignments included the gritty role as Diane Keaton's murderer in Looking For Mr. Goodbar and Butch Cassidy in Butch and Sundance: The Early Years. Berenger' s big feature break came when he joined the ensemble cast of Lawrence Kasdan's The Big Chill.
In addition, his numerous film credits include his role as affable "Jake Taylor" in the Major League franchise, The Dogs of War, Eddie and the Cruisers, Someone To Watch Over Me, Shoot To Kill, Born on the Fourth of July, Sliver, The Substitute. One Man 's Hero (which he produced), All Along the Watchtower, Gettysburg and Last of the Dogmen.
Berenger also starred as Theodore Roosevelt in the TNT cable movie, Rough Riders. He was nominated for a 1982 Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Cheers.
A native of Chicago, Berenger graduated from the University of Missouri, where he majored in journalism. He began acting in regional theater before moving to New York.
