Legendary producer/artist DR. DRE (Paul) has enjoyed both critical and commercial success throughout his career, selling more than 40 million records as well as being honored with multiple Grammy Awards, including the Producer of the Year award in 2001.
Dre has achieved major success three separate times in his career: first as a member/producer of
N.W.A., second with his first solo effort, The Chronic and most recently with Dr. Dre 2001, his 1999 release which has sold more than nine million copies worldwide.
The summer 2000 Up In Smoke tour featuring Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Ice Cube was one of that year's most successful, generating more than $20 million and selling out 44 dates. In 2001, Dr. Dre has produced hit songs for Eve,
Xzibit. Mary J. Blige and Bilal, with more to come.
Dre's skills also include directing, from videos for "Nuthin But A G Thang" to "Let Me Ride" to last year's "Forgot About
Dre," (Best Rap Video at the 2000 MTV Video Music Award), to Eminem's "Real Slim Shady." (last year's Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards), to Eminem's "Stan," which has received multiple nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Dr. Dre's talents continue to branch out with his starring role with Snoop Dogg in The Wash, which will be released in November. Dre also executive produced both the film and its soundtrack, which is scheduled to be released on his label, Aftermath Entertainment, on October
23rd. It will feature new music from Dre, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit and more.
Coming in the future from Dre and Aftermath Entertainment are the soundtrack for Diablo in 2002 which Dre is executive producing, as well as Dre's next solo record, Detox.
