ROBERT LAWRENCE (Producer) is a veteran producer and studio executive, who has worked on some of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed films of the last two decades. He most recently produced the rock 'n' roll comedy "Rock Star," starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer
Aniston, which is the first feature film project from Maysville Pictures, the company Lawrence founded with George
Lawrence had earlier produced Amy Heckerling's hit comedy "Clueless," starring
Alicia Silverstone, and executive produced the blockbuster sequel "Die Hard With a
Vengeance," teaming Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. His other producing credits
include the Kelsey Grammer comedy "Down Periscope," "Rapid Fire," starring the late
Brandon Lee, and the thriller "A Kiss Before Dying." Lawrence also produced the
Showtime original movie "Gang in Blue," starring Mario Van Peebles.
Before becoming an independent producer, Lawrence served as President of Production for United Artists, where he oversaw such diverse successes as the Oscar® winning Best Picture "Rain Man," starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise; "Presumed Innocent," starring Harrison Ford; "The Prince of Tides," directed by and starring Barbra
Streisand; and the Robin Williams starrer "Mrs. Doubtfire." Prior to that Lawrence had held the post of Executive Vice President, Worldwide Production at Columbia Pictures, where he worked on some of the studio's biggest hits, including "Ghostbusters," "The Karate Kid," "Tootsie," "Jagged Edge" and "Out of Africa," which won seven Oscars including Best Picture.
Lawrence graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley and then attended the M.F.A. screenwriting/directing program at UCLA. He began his film career in the Paramount story department and a year later joined the Robert Evans unit as a writer.
