With City by the Sea, Scottish director MICHAEL CATON-JONES (Producer, Director, Writer) reunites with Robert De Niro, whom he directed in the critically acclaimed drama This Boy's Life.

Caton-Jones has shown his versatility as a director with such films as the big-screen thriller The Jackal, starring Bruce Willis, Richard Gere, Diane Verona and Sidney Poitier, which he also produced, and the romantic epic Rob Roy, an homage to his homeland, starring Liam Neeson, Jessica Lange and Tim Roth, on which he served as executive producer.

Caton-Jones made his directorial debut with Scandal, the story of the notorious Profumo sex scandal, starring John Hurt, Bridget Fonda, Joanne Whalley-Kilmer and

Sir Ian McKellen. The film was the third-highest grossing independent film of 1989, and earned several awards and nominations, including the Camera D'Or at Cannes, the Golden Globes and the European Oscars. Other credits include Memphis Belle, starring Matthew Modine, Eric Stoltz, Sean Astin and Harry Connick Jr. and Doc Hollywood, starring Michael J. Fox, Bridget Fonda, Julie Warner and Woody Harrelson.
