HELEN MIRREN received Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations and a New York Film Critics Award for her starring role in Robert Altman's acclaimed 2001 film GOSFORD PARK. The same year she starred opposite Jack Nicholson and Sean Penn in THE PLEDGE. Most recently Mirren starred on Broadway opposite Sir Ian McKellen in August Strindberg's DANCE OF DEATH.

On television Mirren starred in Showtime's THE PASSION OF AYN RAND, winning an Emmy® and a Golden Globe nomination. Her accomplished body of work includes her British Academy Award-, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning role as Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison in the PBS series PRIME SUSPECT.

As a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Mirren has portrayed most of the classical theatrical roles, including Ophelia, Cressida, Lady Macbeth, Nina in THE SEAGULL and the title role in August Strindberg's MISS JULIE. She also starred opposite Stuart Townsend in Tennessee Williams' ORPHEUS DESCENDING at London's Donmar Warehouse.

Her other film credits include: CALENDAR GIRLS, TEACHING MRS. TINGLE; SOME MOTHER'S SON; THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE (Best Actress, Cannes Film Festival; Academy Award nomination); CAL (Best Actress, Cannes Film Festival); MOSQUITO COAST, opposite Harrison Ford; THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY, opposite Bob Hoskins; EXCALIBUR; COMFORT OF STRANGERS; PASCALI'S ISLAND and Peter Greenaway's controversial THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE AND HER LOVER.

The multi-talented Mirren made her directorial debut in 2000 on a short entitled HAPPY BIRTHDAY, for Showtime's DIRECTED BY film series. She currently divides her time between Los Angeles and London.
