CRAIG GILLESPIE directed the highly anticipated Lars and the Real Girl, a comedy/drama starring Ryan Gosling as Lars Lindstrom, an introvert who strikes up an unconventional relationship with a life-size doll he purchases on the internet. Premiering at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival, Lars and the Real Girl also stars Emily Mortimer and Patricia Clarkson. It opens October 12th, 2007 in New York and Los Angeles.

Gillespie is one of the most honored commercial directors working today. Following nominations in 2001 and 2002, he received the Directors Guild Award in 2006 and Emmy and Golden Lion (Cannes International Advertising Festival) awards in 2005. Two of Gillespie's spots also belong to the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. 

An Australian native, Gillespie moved to the United States at the age of 19 to study illustration, graphic design and advertising at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
