JENIFER LEWIS (Mary Clark) has enjoyed a rich career as a star on Broadway, in musical theatre, on television and in feature films. Since making her stage debut in the 1979 Broadway play "Eubie”, she went on to become a member of Bette Midler's singing ‘Harlettes' troupe of back-up singers and made her film debut in Midler's blockbuster feature Beaches in 1988. 

Born in Missouri, she moved to New York to study theatre and soon found success onstage. After many years in the theater and touring in musicals and her own cabaret show "The Diva is Dismissed”, she moved to Los Angeles to concentrate on film and television work. She won memorable roles in the films Sister Act (as ‘Michelle') and What's Love Got to Do with It (as Tina Turner's mother), launching a film career that includes the features Poetic Justice, The Meteor Man, Undercover Blues, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, Renaissance Man, Corrina, Corrina, Panther, Dead Presidents, Girl 6, The Preacher's Wife, Rituals, The Mighty, Blast From the Past, Mystery Men, Cast Away, The Brothers, Juwanna Mann, Nora's Hair Salon, The Cookout, Madea's Family Reunion, Dirty Laundry and, most recently, Redrum, Who's Your Caddy?, Meet the Browns and The Princess and the Frog. She also lent her voice to the animated features Cars and Shark Tale.

Among her many television appearances are as a regular on the series "Strong Medicine”, "The PJs”, "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and "A Different World”.
