JUMPING THE BROOM

TASHA SMITH (Shonda) is a dedicated performer who brings both style and intense character portrayals to the screen. Tyler Perry was so impressed with her stellar work that he cast her to star in three of his films, including the #1 box office hit, Why Did I Get Married? with Janet Jackson and Jill Scott, Why Did I Get Married Too? and Daddy's Little Girls, opposite Idris Elba and Gabrielle Union.

On and off the silver screen, Tasha seems to naturally command attention. Most recently, she co-starred #1 box office hit romantic comedy, Couples Retreat (Universal), starring opposite Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love. She also recently co-starred in the family sports drama, The Longshots (Dimension/The Weinstein Company), with Ice Cube and Keke Palmer. Smith is also venturing behind-the-scenes to make her feature film directorial debut with the independent project, Soul Ties, set to begin production this Spring.

Tasha has played a wide range of roles in such feature films as ATL (Warner Brothers) with T.I. and Mykelti Williamson, The Good Mother (Sony/Screen Gems) with Angie Harmon and Joel Gretsch, and The Whole Ten Yards (Warner Brothers) with Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry. She has also starred in several independent films, including Miles From Home with Meagan Good and Ty Hodges, Playa's Ball with Allen Payne and Elise Neal, Something Like a Business with Kevin Hart and David Alan Grier, and Pastor Brown with Salli Richardson and Ernie Hudson.

Tasha is well-known for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of the drug-addicted Ronnie Boyce in HBO's Emmy Award-winning mini-series, "The Corner,” directed by Charles S. Dutton. She has guest starred on such popular television shows as "Nip/Tuck,” "Meet the Browns,” "The Game,” "Girlfriends,” "All of Us,” "Without a Trace,” and "Strong Medicine,” among others. Smith has also served as the executive producer and host of her own talk show for the Oxygen Network, "Tasha Vision,” guest hosted the late night show, "Later with Greg Kinnear,” and appeared as the acting coach on "America's Next Top Model,” and as a field correspondent on "The Tyra Banks Show.”

Smith takes the time to share her inspirational life story through motivational speaking, as well as mentors emerging actors through the Tasha Smith Actors Workshop (TSAW). In her free time, the Camden, New Jersey native loves to workout at the gym, cook gourmet meals, and entertain friends at her home in Los Angeles.
