JOHN CARROLL LYNCH (Bernie) is one of today's busiest character actors, with more than 40 film roles to his credit, as well as dozens of television projects. He was recently seen in Martin Scorsese's 2010 thriller "Shutter Island,” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, and in the same year appeared in Ruffalo's feature film directorial debut, "Sympathy for Delicious.” Upcoming, he co-stars in Stephen Frears' "Lay the Favorite,” with Bruce Willis and Rebecca Hall.

Lynch's first major film role was in the Coen brothers' "Fargo,” in which he played Norm, the duck-obsessed husband of Frances McDormand's Marge Gunderson. Among his other feature credits are Greg Mottola's "Paul,” Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino,” David Fincher's "Zodiac,” Albert Brooks' "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World,” Miguel Arteta's "The Good Girl,” John Woo's "Face/Off,” and Mick Jackson's "Volcano.”

On the small screen, Lynch is currently a regular on the ABC series "Body of Proof.” His extensive television credits also include such series and longform titles as HBO's "Carnivale,” "Big Love” and "From the Earth to the Moon”; "K-Ville”; "Close to Home”; David E. Kelley's "The Brotherhood of Poland, NH”; and "The Drew Carey Show,” on which he played Drew's cross-dressing brother for six seasons. He has also guest starred on numerous series.

Born in Boulder, Colorado, Lynch began his professional acting career as a member of Minneapolis's Guthrie Theater Company, where he performed in more than 30 productions. In 2008, he returned to the Guthrie to star in Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge.” His other recent stage appearances include the original production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Dinner with Friends,” at South Coast Repertory; "Under the Blue Sky,” at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles; and the world premiere of Beth Henley's "Ridiculous Fraud,” at New Jersey's McCarter Theatre.
