SINISTER
SCOTT DERRICKSON (Director, Co-Writer) is a filmmaker on the rise. In September
2012 it was
announced that Derrickson was attached to direct the paranormal police thriller
Beware the Night, from
another script he co-wrote with Paul Boardman. Derrickson is also writing the
script for an upcoming
remake of the classic horror film Poltergeist.
Derrickson is also set to direct Goliath, a contemporary take on the biblical
tale, as well as the
horror film Two Eyes Staring. He will co-write the latter script with Paul
Boardman, and Charlize Theron is
currently attached to star.
Derrickson co-wrote and directed the 2005 chiller The Exorcism of Emily Rose,
which was loosely
based on a true story. The film won the 2005 Saturn Award for Best Horror Film
and in 2006 appeared on
the Chicago Film Critics Association list of "The 100 Scariest Films Ever Made."
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
grossed nearly $145 million at the box office.
Derrickson then directed the sci-fi spectacular The Day the Earth Stood Still,
starring Keanu
Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. Written by David Scarpa, the film was released in
2008 and earned
approximately $235 million in worldwide box-office receipts.
Derrickson and Boardman's script for Devil's Knot was directed by Atom Egoyan
and is currently
in post-production. Based on a true story, the crime-drama stars Reese
Witherspoon, Colin Firth and Kevin
Durand.
