BEAUTIFUL CREATURES

EMMY ROSSUM (Ridley Duchannes) has been captivating audiences with her diverse, extraordinary talents for over a decade. Rossum's role in SONGCATCHER earned her a 2004 Independent Spirit Award nomination in the category of Best Debut Performance. Four years later, her starring performance as Christine in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, as well as the National Board of Review's Best Female Breakthrough Performance Award and the 2005 Broadcast Film Critics Association's Best Young Actress Award.

Rossum will next be seen starring as Bec, a rebellious college student who takes a summer job as a caretaker for a woman with Lou Gehrig's Disease, in YOU'RE NOT YOU, starring alongside Hilary Swank, who also produces. She currently plays Fiona, alongside William H. Macy, in the third season of SHAMELESS, Showtime's dark comedy series based on the long-running British series of the same title.

Her previous film credits include starring as Alexa in the indie-drama DARE, opposite Zach Gilford, which premiered in official competition at the Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically; DRAGONBALL: EVOLUTION; POSEIDON; THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal; and Clint Eastwood's drama MYSTIC RIVER. Her additional television credits include guest starring appearances on LAW & ORDER and THE PRACTICE.

In 2007, Rossum wrote and recorded her first album for Geffen records, INSIDE OUT, which showcased her classically trained voice as the primary instrument. She is currently working on her second album, SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY, a collection of 1940s standards, which will be released in early 2013.

Rossum's theatrical career began at the age of seven at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, training there for six years in stagecraft and classical vocal technique and performing in five languages in 20 different operas.

A native of New York City, Rossum attended the Spence School until 1996, earning her high school degree through Stanford University's Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) and Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development (CTD). She travels internationally as the Youth Ambassador for the organization Youth AIDS, speaking at schools, universities and government forums.
