TIM ROBBINS (Mike) is an award-winning actor and director whose performance in MYSTIC RIVER won an Oscar and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. He may be best known for his role in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, for which he earned a SAG Award nomination. Robbins was recently seen on the small screen in HBO's "Cinema Verite," opposite Diane Lane and James Gandolfini, and Sundance Channel's "Portlandia," with Fred Armison and Carrie Brownstein.
After breaking out in the cult classic TAPEHEADS, opposite John Cusack, Robbins followed up with the critical and commercial hit BULL DURHAM, alongside Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner. Robbins was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in BOB ROBERTS, a mockumentary about a right wing, folk-singing politico, which he also directed. He won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for THE PLAYER, Robert Altman's classic satire of Hollywood.
Additional film credits include THE HUDSUCKER PROXY, WAR OF THE WORLDS, HIGH FIDELITY, ARLINGTON ROAD, SHORT CUTS and JACOB'S LADDER.
Robbins' work behind the camera on Dead Man Walking, which he also wrote, earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Director. He has been honored at numerous film festivals including Venice, Berlin, Cannes and Sundance. Robbins is also one of the founders and the artistic director of the Actors' Gang experimental theater group.
