KIM BASINGER (Sally) starred opposite Robert Redford in Barry Levinson's "The
Natural," receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her supporting role, and has
appeared in more than 40 feature films, earning an Academy Award in 1998 for
her role in the critically acclaimed film "L.A. Confidential." Based on the
James Ellroy classic crime novel of the same title, the film, directed by Curtis
Hanson, earned nine Academy Award nominations. Basinger also received a Golden
Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG), as well as a BAFTA Award
Basinger will next appear in "The Third Person," written and directed by Paul
Haggis and co-starring Liam Neeson and Maria Bello, which premiered at the
Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year. In 2014, she will star in
"Unborn," in which she plays the role of a successful career woman who cannot
have children. Produced by Lars Von Trier and written and directed by Anders
Morgenthaler, the film also stars Peter Stormare, Jordan Prentice and German
actors Sebastian Schipper and Sophie Rois.
Basinger's recent films include the dramas "One Square Mile" and "Black
November," as well as Burr Steers' "Charlie St. Cloud," with Zac Efron. She also
co-starred in 2008's "The Informers," an ensemble drama based on short stories
by Bret Easton Ellis, opposite Billy Bob Thornton, Mickey Rourke and Jon Foster.
That same year, she appeared in "The Burning Plain," written and directed by
Guillermo Arriaga and co-starring Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence.
Basinger garnered critical acclaim for her role in the film, which was shown at
the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals.
In 2006, she starred in the thriller "The Sentinel," opposite Michael Douglas
and Kiefer Sutherland. The film was directed by Clark Johnson. In 2004, Basinger
received critical acclaim for her moving performance opposite Jeff Bridges in
"The Door in the Floor," based on the John Irving novel Widow for a Year. Also
in 2004, she starred in the thriller "Cellular," alongside Chris Evans.
The year prior, Basinger co-starred opposite Eminem in "8 Mile," and in before
that, she starred in "People I Know," with Al Pacino and Tea Leoni. In 2000,
Basinger starred in "Bless the Child," directed by Chuck Russell and also
starring Jimmy Smits and Rufus Sewell. That year, Basinger also starred in Hugh
Hudson's "I Dreamed of Africa." The film was filmed entirely on location in
Venice, Italy and South Africa and is based on the best-selling true story by
Kenyan activist Kuki Gallmann.
