JOHNNY KNOXVILLE (Sonny) rapidly gained fame as the creator and star of the MTV reality series "Jackass"and is one of Hollywood's most sought-after talents. He starred in and produced the box-office hits Jackass (2002), Jackass Number Two (2006) and Jackass 3D (2010). The latter film opened No. 1 at the box office, earning $50 million and setting a record for biggest October debut. Jackass 3D was the third-straight No. 1 opening for the franchise.

Knoxville then starred in Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013), which opened at No. 1 in its first weekend and earned more than $150 million worldwide. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, becoming the first installment in the series to be nominated for an Oscar. An unrated and extended version of the film titled Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa .5 premiered on MTV before being released on Blu-ray.

The actor can be seen in the upcoming action-comedy Skiptrace, co-starring Jackie Chan, and the drama Weightless, alongside Julianne Nicholson.

Other credits include action film The Last Stand, opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger; crime drama Small Apartments, alongside Billy Crystal and James Caan; comedy Nature Calls, with Patton Oswalt; comedic actioner Fun Size, opposite Victoria Justice and Chelsea Handler; comedy The Ringer, opposite Katherine Heigl; action-comedy The Dukes of Hazzard, with Seann William Scott; biopic Lords of Dogtown, co-starring Heath Ledger and Emile Hirsch; comedy A Dirty Shame, with Tracey Ullman and Selma Blair; action film Walking Tall, opposite Dwayne "The Rock"Johnson; and sci-fi sequel Men in Black II, alongside Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

In addition to the Jackass franchise, Knoxville and his Dickhouse Production partners Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze have produced several shows for MTV, including "Nitro Circus,""Rob and Big"and "Dudesons in America."He also produced the critically acclaimed documentaries The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia and Birth of Big Air (about famed BMX biker Matt Hoffman).

Knoxville and his cousin Roger Alan Wade host a Sirius Radio show on Channel 60 called "The Big Ass Happy Family Jubilee."Knoxville can also be heard as the voice of Leonardo in the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature film and its forthcoming sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

In 2014 Knoxville started his own venture with Hello Junior Productions, which signed an exclusive two-year first-look deal with Paramount Pictures. Most recently, Knoxville finished producing and released Being Evel, a documentary based on the real story behind the myth of American icon Robert "Evel"Knievel and his enduring legacy.

Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Knoxville (born Philip John Clapp) became interested in acting at an early age. At the age of 18 he moved to California to pursue his acting career and supported himself through appearing in commercials and occasionally writing for magazines such as Blunt, Bikini and Big Brother. In 1997 Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze pitched their idea for "Jackass"to MTV and thus began his acting career.

Knoxville currently lives in Los Angeles.
