MICHAEL RAINEY JR. (Woody) has been seen on television in episodes of
SESAME STREET and LAW & ORDER. He has done commercials and print ads for Toys R
Us, Target, AT&T and other major companies. He is currently filming Lee Daniels' star-
studded film THE BUTLER, based on an article by Wil Haygood about a White House butler who
served under eight presidents. Rainey plays the title character (played by Forest Whitaker) as
a boy. The film also stars Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, John Cusack, Robin Williams, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo and Mariah
Carey, among many others.
Rainey's mother was born in Jamaica and his father in New York. He was born on
September 22nd, 2000, in Louisville, Kentucky, but only lived there for one month before
moving to Staten Island, where his parents had resided most of their lives.
A life-changing moment came when he appeared in the music video for "Regalo Pui
Grande," by Tizziano Ferro. Rainey was seen on MTV in Italy by director Silvio Muccino
and writer Carla Vangelista. They were writing the screenplay for the feature UN ALTRO MONDO
and cast Rainey in the lead role. He went from speaking only English to speaking fluent
Italian as the movie filmed in Rome and Nairobi.
Rainey enjoys skateboarding, bike riding, playing video games, graffiti, playing the
drums and piano.
