So desperate is Darryl to earn the money his loved ones need that
he's become a jobaholic. No job is too outrageous,
too ridiculous or too bizarre for the unstoppable Darryl. He'll
go to any means to stay one step ahead of the creditors who would
undo his and his family's dreams.
But that all could change in a flash. If Darryl wins the annual
SmytheBates Junior Analyst Competition, he'll immediately
join the firm to the tune of $60,000 a year. Enough to change
his life forever and accomplish his mission.
But it won't be easy. The competition is fierce, and Darryl will
have to battle Stratford's best, brightest and wealthiest, including
Scott Thorpe, a banker's son, fraternity snob and brownposer
who is firstinline with SmytheBates seemingly
Old Boy CEO, Randall Tyson (Rip Torn.)
The odds are against Darryl landing the SmytheBates position
from the start. He's so busy with all his other jobs, he hasn't
had time to focus on the extracurricular activities that SmytheBates
wants in their winner. Unlike his privileged classmates, Darryl
has not had a moment to join a fraternity or play sports, though
his hockeyobsessed roommate Tim (Matthew Lillard) tries
to give him a chance on the ice. Nor does Darryl have any corporate
connections like Scott Thorpe; in fact, the only banks Darryl
makes weekly deposits at are the Blood Bank and the Sperm Bank.
But the thing Darryl does have is the drive and the heart. In
the midst of his battle, Darryl agrees to take one more odd
job to help out his family. This time he volunteers for a wellpaying
medical experiment, agreeing to take an untested new drug designed
to heighten his every bodily sensation.
The drug provides just the advantage Darryl thinks he needs to
take on the snooty Scott Thorpe, win the affections of the classy,
gorgeous Janice (Tamara Taylor) and win the ultimate job that
will change his family's fortunes. But things spin out of control
. . . with a vengeance. At the worst possible moments, without
warning, he starts losing his senses one at a time
rendering him utterly and hilariously "senseless."
