A young law student takes a part-time job as a lone hospital night
watchman just as a serial killer has begun to terrorize the city.
Even more frightening are the clues, which keep leading back to
him. The police are closing in, and this innocent young man has
become a prime suspect. To solve the crime, he'll have to stay
awake - wide awake.
Suspense Thriller - Nightwatch is a gory, unsettling thriller that could appeal to strong-stomached fans of the genre. The film's bloody violence and general lurid nature makes it inappropriate for children.
PROFANITY: Frequent use of strong profanity. SEX/NUDITY: Frequent glimpses of women's breasts and buttocks; overtones of necrophilia. VIOLENCE: Graphic, bloody violence. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Drinks at home, bars, and restaurants; frequent cigarette smoking. ACTION: Chases and fights. COMEDY: None
Director Ole Bornedal certainly knows how to create a daunting atmosphere, but the creepy thriller Nightwatch is seriously lacking in what should be a thriller's stock in trade: suspense. The central mystery involving a serial killer is so flat and predictable that it is sure to leave audiences disappointed--that is, if they are not too offended by all the gore.
