The groom's best man worries that his friend will find out that he once had an affair with his soon-to-be wife. With good reason, he's written about the affair in a steamy new novel that is just about to hit the stands. One of the bridesmaids is an ambitious TV report and has obtained an advance copy.

Romantic Comedy - Young adults and teens are most likely to enjoy this lighthearted ensemble comedy. The film's strong language may turn off some older viewers, who should otherwise enjoy as well. Sex talk and some brief but graphic situations make the film inappropriate for children.

Critic's Review Heading
Good
If you ask me, it's impossible to not like a film that ends with the entire cast doing the electric slide to Cameo's '80s funk classic "Candy." But there's more to enjoy in The Best Man than its infectious full company closing dance number. First-time writer-director Malcolm D. Lee's fresh and fun ensemble comedy is a classy effort that delivers the requisite doses of laughs and romance along with a fair amount of intelligence.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE
Harper Stewart (Taye Diggs), a commitment-shy writer and the best man at the wedding of Lance (Morris Chestnut) and Mia (Monica Calhoun), is nervous-and with good reason. His steamy new novel hits bookstores soon, and when his friends finally read it he knows they will notice more than just a passing resemblance to the characters depicted in the book. To make matters worse, one of the bridesmaids, Jordan (Nia Long), an ambitious TV producer, has obtained an advance copy of the book-and it's making the rounds with all his friends.

With vows about to be exchanged and friendships renewed, the pressure is on. For by the end of the weekend, scandalous secrets from the book involving close friends and loved ones will be revealed, and everyone will have re-evaluated their relationships with each other, their lovers and with themselves-for better or for worse.
