Comedy (Dark) - This teen action comedy will have little appeal beyond that target audience--adolescents. Despite the occasional good joke, adults will likely find themselves bored.

Critic's Review Heading
Average
It's Bring It On meets Set It Off! Given how Sugar & Spice tells the sordid story of a group of bank robbing cheerleaders, could there be a more apt description? Yes and no. While that description pretty well sums up what the film is about, it also implies that this teen comedy is a lot more fun than it actually is.

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

This movie is STRICTLY for teens. Primarily females, but not all of them enjoyed "Sugar and Spice." If you're a teen female your chances of enjoying this movie are pretty good, assuming you enjoy this type of silly teen humor. Everyone else should steer clear of this movie.

Publisher Comments: (before opinions collected)
A very silly movie, almost to the point of embarrassment. It is aimed squarely at teen females. They are likely to be the only ones who stand a chance of enjoying this juvenile comedy.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE

The A-Squad is your typical group of mall-going, pizza-eating, Ouija-board consulting, boy-chasing, locker room-gossiping 21st century American teenagers living on the edge of perfection. Sure, each member has her foibles. Diane (MARLEY SHELTON), the captain of the squad who is madly in love with Lincoln High star quarterback Jack Bartlett (JAMES MARSDEN), has nuclear-powered enthusiasm. Hannah (RACHEL BLANCHARD) is righteously born-again. Kansas (MENA SUVARI), the rebel whose mother (SEAN YOUNG) is doing time in the local prison, can't help but talk trashy. Lucy (SARA MARSH) is a geek obsessed with going to Harvard. And Cleo (MELISSA GEORGE) has fantasies of stalking Conan O'Brien. But when they work together, making human pyramids and rousing the home team, they rule.

High school is heaven for these paragons of teenage bliss — until Jack and Diane find themselves in an unexpected adult situation, and in desperate need of extra cash. In order to help their friend Diane, the A-Squad goes where no cheerleader has gone before: taking on a little after-school project known as bank robbery. But the A-Squad does things their way — with sugar and spice -- forever changing their friendship, their future and the nation's notion of teen spirit. After all, as the girls bank-robbing cheer goes: "Cheerleaders kick!"
