Critic's Review Heading
Good
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has made a career out of overseeing button-pushing entertainments, but Remember the Titans deals with a different set of buttons entirely, and does so with such surprising effectiveness that you probably won't care how pre-programmed it all is. Director Boaz Yakin uses both his facility with actors and the talents of cinematographer Philippe Rousselot to craft a glossy but satisfying story of teammates coming together in adversity. Sure, there are moments that throw away all credulity for a cheap appeal to emotion, but sometimes a film like Remember the Titans can hit you in all the right places, even when you can see the fingers coming down to hit those buttons.

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

WOW! WHAT A MOVIE! Over 200 moviegoer opinions and nearly everyone loved the TITANS! It's very clean, funny and emotional. DO NOT rent this expecting to see a football movie. There are football scenes, but it doesn't focus on the football. Its main focus is on the difficulties of racial integration and how a couch used football to teach the players to see themselves as a team rather than a race. If the above wasn't enough of an endorsement..SEE THE TITANS!!!

D ETAILED S TORYLINE

Based on a true story, "Remember the Titans," is set in Virginia where in 1971, high school football was everything to the people of Alexandria. But when the local school board was forced to integrate an all black school with an all white school, the very foundation of football's great tradition was put to the test.

Herman Boone, a young black coach new to the community was hired as head coach of the T.C. Williams High Titans over Bill Yoast, a white man with several years seniority and a steadfast following and a tradition of winning. With America struggling through some of her most turbulent years of anti-war protests, Black Panther rallies, civil rights marches and demonstrations of all kinds, the time for change had come, and in Virginia. Boone and Yoast were among the harbingers of that change. As the pair learned to work together. they found they had much more than football in common. Both were men of integrity and honor, with a strong work ethic. Although from vastly different backgrounds, these two coaches not only molded a group of angry, unfocused boys into a dynamic, winning team, but helped guide them into becoming responsible young men. Their determination to work together and win brought together a town torn by prejudice and intolerance. Their love of the game initiated a lifelong friendship. Although history might not remember the names of such heroes as Herman Boone and Bill Yoast, it is because of them that Virginia will always REMEMBER THE TITANS.
