If he's going to survive this Midsummer's nightmare, he's going to need a little help from the right person.

Critic's Review Heading
Average
Proper credit is due to director Tommy O'Haver and screenwriter R. Lee Fleming Jr. for at least trying to do something a little offbeat within the confines of the teen romantic comedy. Their efforts aren't entirely successful, but they at least make the generically-titled Get Over It a little more promising than the name indicates. While it's true that the basic plot is a stale staple (while trying to win back his old girlfriend, the guy fails to fails to recognize true love when it presents itself in the form of his best female friend), the filmmakers liven things up by throwing in a few musical numbers (including choreographed dancing to several '70s tunes like "Love Will Keep Us Together" and "September") and adding a heavy dollop of Shakespeare (in particular, "A Midsummer Night's Dream"). It makes for a teen-oriented movie unlike anything that has come along recently.

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Probably 90% of those attending this movie were young teenage girls. Not surprisingly, they enjoyed this movie the most. Older females also enjoyed it quite a bit, so you moms can take your young teen to see it and not worry that you'll be too bored.
Young teen males are the only male age group that will likely enjoy it. Most of the negative comments were about the profanity and sexual aspects, which I thought were pretty mild for this type of movie. Some others commented that the story wasn't all that interesting and it was slow in places.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE

Berke Landers (BEN FOSTER) thought his senior year was shaping up to be perfection. He was dating the perfect girl, Allison (MELISSA SAGEMILLER), the girl he'd had a crush on since they were in diapers. They seemed to be in perfect love, the quintessential high-school couple. For the first time in Berke's life everything seemed to be a perfect fit.. .but boy, was he perfectly wrong about that. For Berke, it was like Anthony and Cleopatra, like Hepburn and Tracy, like Romeo and Juliet. But, for Allison, it was like, over.

Now Allison is dating the hot new guy in school, boy-band veteran Striker (SHANE WEST), and Berke is wandering around in a lovelorn, accident-prone stupor. As anyone who's ever had a relationship come screaming to a halt knows, a stomped-on heart doesn't just spring back. So is there any hope that Berke can be brought around? His friends are at a loss to stop Berke's total Allison obsession. But the most unlikely person of all, Berke's best friend's kid sister (KIRSTEN DUNST), just might be the only one to help him unexpectedly GET OVER IT.
