Review Below Average "If only the story's essential fantasy were true: I
bet the animal reaction to ''Dr. Dolittle 2'' would be biting.''
Review Good ""D
r. Dolittle" is a cute, crude and good-hearted movie. It's not the kind of
movie that rewards deep study, and it's an easy assignment for Murphy, whose
work in the Nutty Professor movies is much more versatile (and funnier). As the
PG rating suggests, this is a movie aimed at younger audiences, which are likely
to enjoy the cute animals, the simple plot, the broad humor''
Review Above Average "It's the kind of material that is either going to
make your day or not, though parents who have been dragged into past kiddie-pic
trenches won't come out battered and scarred. While this Dolittle does
too little, it's harmless.''

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Another winner for Eddie Murphy. Kids and teens loved it, which isn't a surprise. THIS IS NOT JUST A KIDS MOVIE! Young adult males rated it quite high. Some of the young adult females rated it somewhat lower. Adults 30+, both male and female, rated it pretty high, but there were a few who just rated it average to slightly below average.
Since no one truly disliked this movie, I highly recommend Dr. Dolittle to everyone who enjoys this type of movie. I'm confident most will enjoy it very much and the few remaining ones will, at the very least, feel it's an OK movie.
Parents, take the kids to see this great family movie!
Publisher Comments: (before opinions collected) VERY FUNNY! The audience loved it. There's one laugh after another. The jokes come fast and most of them work. This silly, cute type of story/humor may not appeal to everyone. I thought it was better than the first one. If you enjoyed the first Dr. Dolittle you will almost certainly enjoy this newest version even more. Obviously the story is very simple and totally predictable and almost too cute, so don't go expecting more than that and you will probably have a great time!
The now-famous doc has more patients - two-legged and four-legged - than he
can handle. But his animal friends want more than office visits. The outraged
critters want to save their forest from unscrupulous human developers, and
they're seeking Dolittle's help.
Dolittle concocts a plan to save the forest: Find an endangered species the
law protects. He discovers a lone endangered Pacific Western Bear, Ava, living
in the condemned forest. But she needs a mate - and Dolittle thinks he's found
one in Archie, a city-dwelling, wise-cracking, fast food-loving,
circus-performing bear. Although Archie initially resists the idea, Dolittle
convinces him there's love to be found in his natural habitat.
Dolittle and his dog Lucky head to the forest to try and teach Archie the
ways of the wild. Unfortunately, it's hardly a love connection for the
mismatched bears, as Ava is unimpressed by Archie's bumbling antics. And Lucky's
love life with a local wolf isn't faring much better.
Will Dolittle's animal friends start walking picket lines? Can he come up
with the right prescription to bring Ava and Archie together, and save the
forest? Will Lucky get lucky? It's down to the wire, as Dolittle and company
give the money-hungry land-grabbers a taste of real bargaining power -
