Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Action Adventure Mystery - An action adventure that's a little short of action and long on story, which is a little difficult to follow. It will obviously appeal to males, especially young teens, but it should also appeal to young teen girls who will enjoy seeing the female kick butt. Adults will likely enjoy the movie as long as they are willing to accept the far-fetched storyline and action scenes.

Good

Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times  Full Review
Good "Lara Croft Tomb Raider elevates goofiness to an art form. Here is a movie so monumentally silly, yet so wondrous to look at, that only a churl could find fault. Did I enjoy the movie? Yes. Is it up there with the Indiana Jones pictures? No, although its art direction and set design are. Was I filled with suspense? No. But did I grin with delight at the absurdity it all? You betcha.''

TV Guide Online  Full Review
Average "An action-packed crowd pleaser whose appeal rests primarily on the supple shoulders of Angelina Jolie, the flesh-and-blood embodiment of video game pin-up Lara Croft''

James Berardinelli, Internet Critic  Full Review
Good "Unlike nearly every other Hollywood product based on a computer/video game, Tomb Raider seems more like the summer blockbuster that it strives to be than a 90-minute big-screen commercial. Tomb Raider moves at a fast clip, and represents top notch eye candy. Of all this summer's mindless blockbusters, this is arguably the most fun - it's certainly a cut above The Mummy Returns.''

Newsday  Full Review
Good "Highly anticipated adaptation of the popular computer game is uneven, sometimes awkward, but Angelina Jolie makes the title character a virtual icon of female competence and coolth."

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

After children, teen girls rated this movie the highest. I suspect they enjoyed seeing a female lead character whip up on the guys. Surprisingly, teen males didn't rate it any higher than adults. As for adults, gender didn't seem to make any difference in the opinions. A little better than half of adult moviegoers gave "Tomb Raider" a high rating. The remaining half rated it only "Good" to "Fair," which we've learned is pretty low and indicates a movie with some problems.

If you generally like this type of movie, I would say your chances of enjoying this one are high, but you should probably read the detailed opinions before deciding for sure.

Publisher Comments: (before opinions collected)
Although it was an entertaining movie that I would recommend, it was a bit of a disappointment. Angelina was great, but I was expecting more action. There were only three major action scenes, which were great, but a little far-fetched. The story itself just wasn't all that interesting.

I predict kids will rate it highly, but I doubt it will receive very many really high opinions from adults.

But now she must face her greatest challenge yet: to find two halves of an ancient artifact buried in space and time. To possess it means ultimate power for its possessor. But to get there, she must first take on a powerful and dangerous secret society. The fate of mankind rests in the hands of one Lara Croft, a twenty-first century heroine inspired by the most popular interactive video character in history.
