USA TODAY  Full Review
Poor "Even the soundtrack doesn't rescue the movie from its tedious banality. Carey's acting ability doesn't come close to the potency of her pipes. Her range of emotion covers the gamut from simpering grin to perky smile to pouty crocodile tears.''

Entertainment Weekly   Full Review
Poor "For a pop singer who makes every note sound like a multiple orgasm pumped through a Moog synthesizer, Mariah Carey is weirdly blank and recessive in Glitter, her acting debut.''

James Berardinelli, Internet Critic  Full Review
Poor "There are enough howlingly bad lines of dialogue in Glitter to provide occasional breaks of unintentional laughter, but, even with those interruptions, this movie is agonizing to sit through. Glitter lacks anything resembling a sparkle, and, as a movie star, Mariah Carey is the equivalent of a black hole.''

Roger Ebert  Full Review
Average "One problem with "Glitter" is that it doesn't step up and offer itself as Carey's real story, and yet it is so afraid of being taken that way that it goes easy on the details, anyway.''
